I share the true story of how my grandparents met as strangers, exchanging 400+ letters between Germany and Minnesota from 1951 to 1955. Letters Across an Ocean follows their awkward beginnings, love and longing, and the unexpected setbacks that delayed my grandmother’s immigration. It is an intimate immigrant’s story—one of resilience, hope, and the search for a new life in America.
